University Grants Committee pledges full support to the 2025 Legislative Council General Election

The University Grants Committee (UGC) fully supports the 2025 Legislative Council (LegCo) General Election and appeals to the members of the higher education sector to engage actively and cast their votes in the forthcoming LegCo General Election scheduled for December 7, with a view to electing capable candidates to jointly promote Hong Kong's development.

Mr Tim Lui, the Chairman of the UGC said, "The LegCo is an essential component of Hong Kong's governance structure, promoting Hong Kong's development through its key functions such as enacting laws and refining public policies. The UGC-funded universities have always contributed to the social and economic development of Hong Kong by nurturing talent and advancing knowledge. We call upon all members of the higher education sector to unite and fulfil their civic responsibility, actively exercise their voting rights, and work together to promote the development of education in Hong Kong and build a better Hong Kong".
