UGC Chairman thanks President of HKUST for his contributions over the years

Following the announcement by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) on the resignation of its President, Professor Wei Shyy, the Chairman of the University Grants Committee (UGC), Mr Carlson Tong, would like to thank Professor Shyy for his significant contributions over the years.

Mr Tong said, "As the President of HKUST and a former UGC Member, Professor Wei Shyy has made outstanding contributions to the development of higher education as well as innovation and technology in Hong Kong. Under Professor Shyy's leadership, HKUST has established itself as a world-class institution renowned for excellence in teaching, research and knowledge transfer. The impressive result achieved by HKUST in the Research Assessment Exercise 2020 also speaks for itself. On behalf of the UGC, I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Professor Shyy."
