Inter-Institutional Development Scheme (IIDS) 2022/23 Exercise
  1. There was a drop in the number of applications. Nonetheless, the overall quality of proposals was satisfactory. Some proposals were well-organized with clear objectives and were timely in addressing the research gaps and understudied areas. The proposed activities were appropriate and the proposed timeline of planning and organizing the events was reasonable.

  2. Some proposals used interdisciplinary approach to identify areas for research development. The synergic effort of team members was well presented and details of proposed knowledge sharing, research direction discussion, research method education and network building were provided.

  3. In some proposals, the outline of the conference programme was too broad and did not fully align with the project objectives. The main themes of the conferences were not easily identified and the deliverables were not clear. PIs were advised to articulate how the proposed conferences could identify challenges and opportunities, and bring academics, industry practitioners and government agencies to work together on the identified issues to develop sustainable solutions. PIs were also advised to provide evaluation plan for the proposed activities.

  4. In view of the current pandemic, PIs were advised to come up with a contingency plan in case the physical activities could not be conducted as scheduled.
