Rudi LIDL

Emeritus Professor Rudi Lidl was Professor of Pure Mathematics, Head of the Department of Mathematics, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology and Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Tasmania in Australia between 1976 and 2007. During the period from 1993 until 2007, when he was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, he had line management for the three major areas of quality assurance, internationalisation and human resources.

From the end of 2007 until 2010, Professor Lidl was seconded to the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) to work as an Audit Director where he managed many quality audits of Australian universities and colleges. He was also involved in progressing quality assurance collaboration between AUQA and China and cooperated extensively with the Quality Assurance Council of the University Grants Committee in Hong Kong. As part of many quality audits of Australian universities and colleges, he audited the offshore components of these programmes in Mainland China and Hong Kong.

Since 2010, Professor Lidl has been operating his own private consultancy business, mainly focusing on reviews, audits and accreditations in higher education. The majority of work has been as the Chair or Panel Member on accreditation exercises with the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, plus quality reviews in South Africa and Saudi Arabia.

Professor Lidl was born and educated in Austria, received a Dr Phil in Mathematics from University of Vienna in 1970 and was an Associate Professor of Mathematics at the University of Technology Vienna before moving to Australia.
