Min YAN

Professor Min Yan received Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Fudan University in 1983, and PhD in Mathematics from The University of Chicago in 1990. After working as a postdoctoral fellow in the United States of America for two years, Professor Yan joined The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in 1992, and is now a full Professor of the Department of Mathematics.

Professor Yan is a pure mathematician. Since joining HKUST, he has conducted research in various areas, including geometric topology, combinatorics, Hopf algebra, and integrable systems. His most recent research achievement is the complete classification of tilings of the sphere by congruent polygons.
