Mike LAI Kee-hung

Professor Mike Lai is the Associate Dean (Academic Support) of the Faculty of Business at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) since 2018, responsible for programme design and curriculum development, quality assurance of learning outcomes, learning and teaching project assessments, and maintenance of Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business and European Quality Improvement System accreditations. He received his Bachelor's and PhD degrees in Business Studies from PolyU. Professionally, he is the Director of Shipping Research Centre (SRC) of PolyU, the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Shipping and Trade, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport of Hong Kong. He contributed in two consultancy projects for the production of Specification of Competency Standard for the Import and Export Industry and the Logistics Industry respectively. The SRC served the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework as Recognition of Prior Learning Agency for the Import and Export Industry between September 2015 and August 2018.

Professor Lai is the co-author of seven books in shipping and logistics and is recognised as a "Highly Cited Researcher" by Web of Science in 2019. He is the external examiner for business programmes offered by the Li Ka Shing Institute of Professional and Continuing Education of The Open University of Hong Kong, the School of Professional and Continuing Education of The University of Hong Kong, and The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong. He has also been the assessor for research grant proposals administered by Australian Research Council, Swiss National Science Foundation, and others.
