Mark HUNT

Professor Mark Hunt is an independent consultant working with a range of higher education providers across the United Kingdom (UK) and abroad, advising on educational policy, management, governance, leadership and quality assurance systems. He was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University for the Creative Arts (UCA), a post he held for 15 years until 2015.

Professor Hunt has pursued a career in education management and has held leadership and management positions in higher education for over 30 years, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Rector and the Deputy Chief Executive at UCA; the Deputy Director at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design, University College; the Head of the Sir John Cass Faculty of Art and Design at the London Guildhall University; and Course Leader roles at the University of Sunderland and Rotherham College of Arts and Technology.

As well as being a Non-Executive Director of Istituto Marangoni, School of Fashion London (Chair of the Board), Professor Hunt is also a Non-Executive Director of the British and Irish Modern Music Institute (Deputy Chair of the Board and Chair of the Audit Committee) and a Non-Executive Director of Sotheby's Institute of Art (Chair of the Board). He was the inaugural Chair of the Strood Academy until 2018. He is currently a special adviser to Laine Theatre Arts.

Professor Hunt has substantial experience as an academic developer in Art and Design. He is an experienced auditor/reviewer of the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education for England and Scotland, including collaborative overseas audits and degree awarding powers. He is an experienced external examiner at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, within the UK and overseas.

In 2002, he was awarded the title of Professor of Crafts Education and elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. In 2015, UCA conferred the title of 'Professor Emeritus' in recognition of his distinguished contribution to the University.
