Jane VON DADELSZEN

Ms Jane von Dadelszen is an independent director and consultant providing advice and analysis to government agencies and educational organisations in New Zealand and internationally.

Ms von Dadelszen has expertise in tertiary and vocational education, particularly in relation to quality assurance, qualification frameworks, and funding systems with a particular interest in strategy, processes and systems. Recent consulting projects include a review of the academic committee structure of a subsidiary of the New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology, two reviews of pharmacy qualifications and registration requirements, an independent panel verifying the annual tertiary educational key performance indicators for Samoa, a review of the Solomon Islands women's economic empowerment strategy, a review of evidence gaps and research and evaluation requirements to address family violence, and providing expert support for a review of the professional real estate registration qualification suite.

Ms von Dadelszen has been a Council Member of the Hong Kong Council for the Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications since 2015, and a member of its task force reviewing accreditation criteria and standards. She is also a Director of the New Zealand Government Accreditation Council, a board member of the New Zealand National Drama School, the Chair of the Drama School Academic Board and the Deputy Board Chair for a large non-governmental organisation providing English language support to refugees and migrants. She was also a Director of the Primary Sector Industry Training Organisation until May 2020.

Until December 2015, Ms von Dadelszen was the Deputy Chief Executive, Quality Assurance, at the New Zealand Qualifications Authority responsible for the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF), regulating the quality of tertiary education, and quality assurance of programmes and education providers at all levels of NZQF. She also led New Zealand's work on the comparative analysis of NZQF with the European Qualifications Framework and the initial work referencing NZQF with the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework. For ten years, she led tertiary education policy at the Ministry of Education and was responsible for the policy and legislation that created the architecture for the New Zealand funding system, including research funding and more focused work on NZQF, tertiary education quality assurance, career guidance, student loans and adult literacy. Her other government experience includes gender issues, crime and justice issues, family violence, child protection, alcohol and drug issues, and climate change and natural resource management. She has also worked at The University of Auckland, University of Otago and Open Polytechnic of New Zealand.

Ms von Dadelszen has a Master's degree in Psychology and is a member of the Royal Society of New Zealand and the Institute of Directors.
