Hilary WINCHESTER

Until November 2016, Professor Hilary Winchester was the Provost at Central Queensland University in Australia and was responsible for academic matters, including Learning and Teaching, Research, Community Engagement and Indigenous Education. She has held senior positions in various Australian universities including as the President of Academic Senate, the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic), the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Strategy and Planning) and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Research). She is currently running her own company, specialising in higher education quality assurance.

Professor Winchester was an honorary auditor for the Australian Universities Quality Agency between 2001 and 2011 and is a member of the Register of Experts for the Australian Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency. She is on the register of external auditors for several jurisdictions including New Zealand, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, and has undertaken institutional reviews and audits for these agencies either as the Chair or a panel member. Within Australia she has undertaken audits, institutional reviews, and reviews of governance, faculties, pathway programmes and of the Education Services for Overseas Students compliance. In 2011, she was the recipient of the Australian Higher Education Quality Award for her work on quality enhancement in the private sector. She is an Emeritus Professor of the University of South Australia and a 2016 finalist in the Telstra Business Women's Awards (Queensland).

Professor Winchester gained her degrees from the University of Oxford, and is the author of over a hundred refereed publications and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
