Quality Assurance and Higher Education Consultant

Dorte Kristoffersen is an experienced quality assurance professional with a strong international profile having held senior executive positions in quality assurance bodies around the world. She was Executive Director of Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) from November 2015 to January 2018 and previously deputy executive director of HKCAAVQ from October 2007 till December 2009 and from October 2014 to October 2015.

Ms Kristoffersen was one of the inaugural Commissioners of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) in Australia from 2011 to 2014. Prior to this appointment she was Vice President for Policy and Research of the Accreditation Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) under the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in California.

She was an audit director with the Australian Universities Quality Agency from 2004 to 2007. As audit director she was responsible for a number of audits among them, the audit of Melbourne University, Monash University and the Australian National University (ANU). She started her career in quality assurance in the national Danish Evaluation Institute in 1992. She was Deputy Director and Director of Development at the time of her departure in 2004.

Ms Kristoffersen has been involved in a range of international projects such as the establishment of European Association of Quality Assurance (ENQA) and the Asia Pacific Quality Network (APQN) and she was an inaugural member of the European Quality Assurance Register Committee (EQAR). She has chaired and been a panel member of numerous panels reviewing quality assurance agencies and higher education institutions.

Ms Kristoffersen resides in Melbourne, Australia and has since 2018 been engaged in consultancy projects in quality assurance and higher education.
