CAPITAL PROGRAMME

Capital works projects costing more than HK$15 million are normally funded by way of capital grants. Capital grant proposals are submitted to the UGC for consideration on an annual basis, to coincide with the Government's annual Capital Works Resource Allocation Exercise which involves scrutiny by the relevant committees of the Legislative Council.

In evaluating the proposed developments, the UGC takes into account whether such developments are in line with the institutions' master development plans as well as their different roles and missions. Director of Architectural Services, as the UGC's technical adviser, assists the UGC in scrutinising design, cost and standards, as well as contractual and financial conditions of the projects.

Capital grants approved during the reporting triennium amounted to some HK$3.5 billion. Major capital projects approved during the reporting triennium are listed in Appendix I.
