RESEARCH ASSESSMENT

In addition to teaching and learning, the UGC also attaches great importance to the need to promote a quality and active research environment in Hong Kong. To this end, the UGC conducted the third Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) in 1999, among other initiatives. As with previous exercises, its aim was to assess the research output and performance of the institutions, giving particular attention to the quality of research. Details of the 1999 RAE can be found in Chapter 4.
