To enhance the awareness of knowledge transfer among institutions in Hong Kong, the University Grants Committee, The City University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology jointly organized a one-day symposium on "Knowledge Transfer".

Knowledge transfer refers to the systems and processes by which knowledge, including technology, know-how, expertise and skills are transferred from higher educational institutions to society, leading to innovative, profitable, economic or social improvements.

Renowned guest speakers from Hong Kong and overseas shared their views on the subject and some success stories on how knowledge transfer can be accomplished in a knowledge-based economy. This insightful symposium successfully invigorated interest and induced strategic considerations to the subject among faculty members, senior administrators and technology transfer personnel from UGC-funded institutions, and representatives from industry and government.
