Press Release - Germany/Hong Kong Joint Research Scheme 2000/2001

The Research Grants Council of Hong Kong (RGC) and the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) have selected a total of 34 research projects for funding under the Germany/Hong Kong Joint Research Scheme in the 2000/2001 exercise. The funding amounted to HK$1.6 million, with equal matching funds from both sides.

A joint selection committee comprising Hong Kong and German academics selected 25 new proposals and 9 extension projects, out of 28 new proposals and 15 extension projects received.

The Germany/Hong Kong Joint Research Scheme was first launched in 1996/1997 to promote collaborative research between researchers in Hong Kong and Germany, with return air passages, accommodation and subsistence allowance, to facilitate exchange visits and access to research facilities.

The Germany/Hong Kong Joint Research Scheme is one of the three joint research schemes operated by the RGC. The other schemes include partnership with France and the Mainland. The joint research schemes are part of the RGC's continuing efforts to promote research collaboration between Hong Kong and the international communities.
