Ricky WONG Ngok-shun

Professor Ricky Wong is currently the Associate Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). He is the Chair Professor in Biology and has served two terms as the Associate Dean of the Science Faculty as well as the Head of the Biology Department at HKBU. Prof Wong received his PhD from the University of Oklahoma, Health Sciences Centre at Oklahoma City, U.S.A. and his M.Phil. and B.Sc. at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has working experience in the biotechnology industry and is responsible for setting up the biotechnology concentration of the Applied Biology program at HKBU. His current research focus is in studying the molecular pharmacology of ginseng, especially its effect on angiogenesis - formation of new blood vessels.

One of his long serving committees at HKBU was the Course Accreditation and Review Committee (CARC) (1996-1998, 2004-2006). After the decentralisation of power to the faculty for their academic issues, Prof Wong continued to serve in the Quality Assurance Committee (2006-present) to monitor the academic issues of the university. Besides, he was the Chairman of the Quality Assurance Sub-committee for self-financed sub-degree programmes (2013-2014), member of the Working Group to plan for and oversee External Quality Audits on sub-degree operations of UGC-funded institutions (2014-2016), and Board of Directors of Joint Quality Review Committee (JQRC) (2014-2016).
