Mrs Winnie Eley joined The University of Newcastle (UoN), Australia in May 2013. As a member of the Senior Executive Group and Executive Committee, Mrs Eley takes on strategic leadership of the University's inaugural global partnership plan which encompasses alumni relations and development, global engagement and footprints, institutional relations and reputation, philanthropy and sponsorship, student mobility and experience; and contributes to the achievement of the University's vision by 2025, NeW Futures Strategic Plan (2016-2025) and NeW Strategic Directions (2013-2015).

In her current capacity, Mrs Eley chairs the Global Partnership Committee, Executive Committee of Newcastle International College and UoN's World University Rankings Advisory Group. She is a member of the University's Programme and Course Approval Committee, Teaching and Learning Committee, Research Committee, and Strategic IT Committee.

Mrs Eley has extensive experience in accreditation via the National Open College Network in the United Kingdom between 1997 and 2000. Between 2000 and 2013, her portfolios in education services, international affairs and executive education meant quality assurance in higher education was one of the many fundamental areas of her work. She maintains an active interest in the development of International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE). In addition, she has first-hand experience in managing stringent and regular internal and external audits throughout her career.
